TD Canada Trust increases home equity line of credit and variable interest rate mortgage rates

TORONTO, Oct. 6 /CNW/ - TD Canada Trust has increased its home equity
line of credit and variable interest rate mortgage rates, effective October 7,
2008. While TD Canada Trust has endeavored to not pass on the increases in
rates to its customers, this change reflects steadily increasing costs of
funds in the current economic environment.

Home Equity Lines of Credit have moved to TD Prime +1%

Open and Closed Variable Interest Rate Mortgages have moved to TD
Mortgage Prime +1%

美国刚刚通过7000亿救市的议案，要借这么多钱，加拿大肯定跑不了。加拿大也只有通过加息来减少贷款和增加存款残能借给美国钱。

大家都静观其变吧。美国的8500亿只是扑灭了明火，火灾过后不知什么时候能恢复元气。加拿大的经济已经明显在萎缩了，受美国的影响很大。看看RBC何BMO这个月后的利息怎么样吧，个人觉得不是很乐观，不知道这些银行会不会跟着TD走。

我看降息是加拿大缓解房地产危机的最后一招了，如果这一招再不见效，个人觉得房地产市场要低迷一段时间了。如果能跌15--20%，可以考虑入场了。
