CharettePellPoscente Environmental Corp. (CPPENV) is an environmental consultancy with a focus on natural resource management. We are seeking a full time GIS Technician to join our team of professionals.  

The GIS Technician will be responsible for managing the day to day GIS requirements of the company, including the production of GIS map products for related projects.

Duties
⋅ Operate and maintain the ArcView GIS system hardware, software, and other associated devices.
⋅ GIS data management and support to project leaders.
⋅ Creation and management of GIS based data sets.
⋅ Database and GIS system technical support to other GIS users within the company.

Minimum Qualifications
⋅ possess a technical diploma in GIS or have equal training and experience in GIS.
⋅ minimum of two years’ work experience using ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS). Recent grads will be considered.

The Ideal Candidate
⋅ Demonstrated experience in GIS/mapping application design, development and implementation, and  troubleshooting GIS problems independently.
⋅ Proven knowledge of geographic (geo-processing) and cartographic principles (projections and datum).
⋅ Strong data management and data organizing skills.
⋅ Experience working with LiDAR data.
⋅ Experience with GPS data capture and integration of GPS data in into the GIS system.  
⋅ Demonstrated ability to take note and translate user needs into a series of GIS procedures used to generate products that meet those needs.
⋅ Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
⋅ Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills.
⋅ Ability to work on multiple projects, set priorities, and meet rigid deadlines.
⋅ Have experience in the implementation of mapping projects including planning of map content, format/design and compilation of data from a variety of data sources including aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
⋅ CorelDraw knowledge is an asset
⋅ Global Mapper knowledge is an asset

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer - Information Technology Division requires a regular full-time GIS Applications Developer.

We are looking for an energetic GIS Applications Developer to join our GIS team in a dynamic municipal environment.  You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining complex GIS applications primarily aimed at internet users but also for the desktop environment when required. Your role as a high level GIS professional includes the creation/customization of applications using REST services; the creation, maintenance and optimization of system administration routines; the technical documentation of processes and programs; the creation of procedures to ensure data quality control; the provision of technical support including the standard practices needed to  maintain data and data integrity; the delivery of quality cartographic products; spatial analysis; and systems analysis within an enterprise environment.

Reporting to the GIS Coordinator, your make-it-happen approach and organizational skills will allow you to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.  You will maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts and may serve as the project lead for GIS projects.

You have a successful track record in delivering web-based GIS solutions using ESRI’s ArcGIS Server and web APIs, supplemented with a GIS post-diploma and at least five years related experience.

Sound knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products, HTML,CSS3, .NET, Visual Studio, IIS, REST, Javascript, SQL, and Python is essential, together with technical expertise in working with relational databases, versioned geodatabases and FME is required. Also beneficial would be experience of working with Dojo, Backbone.js, Adobe Flex, Actionscript, and a municipal background.

Salary:
$34.53 to $40.79 per hour
(Pay Grade 26 – January 2011 rates)

Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Under the guidance of the Technology Service Delivery Manager, an incumbent is responsible for providing specialized technical and analytical support related to the use of the Geographic Information System. The incumbent performs a variety of duties relative to the assembly of spatial and non-spatial data; production of maps and related reports; routine data quality control procedures; and assists in system troubleshooting. More difficult or unusual problems are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance in terms of conformance to established standards.

Nature and Scope:
Consults with users about requests for GIS information, creates menus and data tables and linkages to spatial databases, writes database queries, application scripts and customized routines of varying complexity to access specific data or generate reports from the geographic database and related systems to meet users needs.
Monitors and ensures the GIS database is routinely updated; liaises with internal and external contacts to ensure a steady flow of current spatial and non-spatial data; carries out specific quality control procedures for new and existing data.
Identifies software and hardware problems and responds to related user inquiries, notifies and maintains liaison with the system vendor and equipment service companies; carries out test procedures on system modifications; documents system changes, procedures and problems.
Performs basic system administration tasks such as setting up user profiles, assigning access levels.
Provides input and recommendations regarding the development, alteration or refinement of the geographic system's capabilities to better meet the users needs.
Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the hardware, software and capabilities of the Geographic Information System.
• Knowledge of the needs and requirements of GIS system users.
• Ability to prepare and execute a variety of application tools such as scripts, menus and routines.
• Ability to perform routine systems administration tasks and minor troubleshooting of problems.
• Ability to make recommendations regarding the development, alteration or refinement of system capabilities.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

Salary Range: Pay Grade 24 ($32.63 to $38.50 per hour)

Hours of Work: 40 hour work week

CAD technician at Chartwell Consultants Ltd

Chartwell Consultants Ltd. is a dynamic natural resource-based consulting firm with offices in North Vancouver, Squamish, Gibsons and Chilliwack. We are currently seeking an individual with strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills to work full-time in our North Vancouver office. This role will involve the following duties:

·         Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D software packages.
·         Interpret field data to produce design drawings of simple bridge structures and highway junctions. Other engineering drawings will be required on an ad-hoc basis.
·         Assist with the creation of data management procedures and project templates.
·         Process 3-dimensional GPS data.
·         Assist with the collection of site data requiring periodic travel and rural fieldwork in all weather conditions.
·         Familiarity with survey methods and total stations is preferred.
·         Experience with scripting to assist with workflow automation will be an asset.
·         Client liaison and contractor supervision within a multi-disciplinary workplace.

Requirements:
The most suitable applicant will hold a related degree or technical diploma with 2 years associated experience. Motivated self-starters with strong communication skills who enjoy working in a team environment will best fit this role. Bridge site surveys and inspection/construction experience are valuable assets. Knowledge of survey-grade GPS systems is preferred but not essential. Valid BC driver’s license and effective written/verbal communication skills are also required.
